Mr & Mrs Young

Project #1: Loft Conversion.
Project #2: Garage Conversion.

Dream Space #1: New bedroom for their son.

Dream Space #2: Family Lounge / Entertainment room.

The Project #1: Mr & Mrs Young have two children and live in a modern three bedroom family home.    Their dream living space was a new bedroom for their eldest child.

As with many modern properties the biggest challenge for this project was achieving the required head height when installing the new staircase.  In order to overcome this obstacle, a small velux window was carefully positioned at the top of the stairs. This not only meant that the current building regulations where adhered to but it also gave the added benefit of natural light.

Mr & Mrs Young wanted the loft to be somewhere their son could grow into as he got older.  To achieve this and provide a more self contained space, we ensured the design incorporated an en-suite and built in storage.  Large velux windows were used on both sides of the room to maximise natural light.  

The Project # 2: As with many homes today, Mr & Mrs Young needed space for a home office.  Their existing office was located next to the families lounge in a previous garage conversion.  With their son now in his luxury loft room, the office could be moved upstairs.  Mr & Mrs Young wanted to use their old garage to extend their families lounge and leisure space. 

In order to remove the dividing wall, a new foundation was required.  Once in place, a block pillar was built and steels inserted above to support the bearing walls.  Once the space was secure and open, the floor was removed and re-laid to ensure it was level and modern spot lights installed.  New cabling for a Home Entertainment System were installed and carefully concealed within the walls.
